PLYMOUTH TRIATHLON CLUB

Training

ALL JUNIORS looking to join the club are required to be at ASA Level 8 standard or higher. Alternatively, upon their first session, Juniors will be assessed by Junior Head Coach, to ensure they reach the minimum standard required. To see what kind of standard this is, click on the link.

Please note that parents are responsible for their children inside the Life Centre changing village prior to and following the coaching session and we require that Juniors are dropped off and collected by a parent or guardian.

Newbies: New children are entitled to two taster sessions, free of charge, before they commit to the annual joining subscription of £25. In order to access these sessions, you MUST first contact the Junior Co-Ordinator on Junior Co-Ordinator Ella Kerswill as they will need to check availability with the relevant coaches, prior to attendance. Failure to do so will result in the child being unable to join the session.

Junior Consent form: Please visit the Juniors Page for joining and consent instructions.

Swim

Fridays 19:00-20:00 at the Plymouth Life Centre. (Be poolside by 18:50)

Cost for each session is £3 along with a valid membership card (please bring this to the session as we require your emergency contact number).  Bookings MUST be made on Stack Team App

Goggles are required, and if possible, fins and a pull buoy.

(Please note that there are no Junior sessions during the main school holidays)

Bike

We currently don’t offer regular coached cycling sessions for Juniors, although we do have social rides on cycle routes. There are often opportunities at British Cycling or British Triathlon organized events during school holidays, which we signpost Juniors to.

In 2022 we trialed some adult led rides along the Plym Valley Cycle track, we hope to expand on this in 2023 with some set dates. Details will be posted here and on the dedicated Junior Facebook page (approved members only)

As mentioned below, in the summer/ race season, our Thursday track session often involves bike handling skills, mounting/dismounting and working on running off of the bike!

Run

Thursdays at Brickfields athletics track 18.00 – 19.00 (trackside by 17.50)

In the summer and race season, we do 6-8 weeks of bike handling skills such as moving with the bike, mount and discount as well as transition training to get them ready to race.

The session caters for athletes aged 8-18. Please bring your membership card and wear appropriate clothing for the session, according to the season it could be hot or cold!

There are no Juniors sessions during the main school holidays.
